After last week’s bomb scare, Portland city leaders are considering rejoining the Joint Terrorism Task Force, but civil rights advocates plan to fight it.

This week, Mayor Sam Adams said Friday’s alleged terror plot — in which the FBI says a man tried to blow up a van parked next to the city’s Christmas tree-lighting ceremony — has raised Portland’s profile around the world and city officials need to reexamine security measures.

Portland pulled out of the Joint Terrorism Task Force in 2005 after ACLU leaders raised concerns about profiling and civil rights violations.
